April 11 is National Day of Telehealth for Parkinson Disease

For World Parkinson’s Day on April 11, individuals with Parkinson disease, caregivers, family members, and advocates are encouraged to join a special awareness day and participate in free online fitness classes hosted by BurnAlong.

Parkinson disease is the fastest growing neurological disorder worldwide, and is poised to continue to grow exponentially.

“Exercise can improve the symptoms of Parkinson disease and may even delay onset of symptoms. Exercising when you want, where you want, and with whom you want, could motivate many of us to exercise more often,” a provided release from BurnAlong reads.

BurnAlong is an online video fitness and wellness platform that offers hundreds of classes at all fitness levels, including classes appropriate for individuals with PD at various stages of progression. You choose the class you want to take and where you want to take it – from home, from a friend’s house, or wherever you are that day. You can access the class on your smartphone, tablet, or computer, and, uniquely, can invite friends and family to join you in live private sessions. Whomever you invite will be able to see and hear you on their screen, and you will be able to see and hear them in addition to viewing the class.
