Cima Group Touts Joint Venture with Healthcare Solutions ProviderGlobal telecom and digital solutions conglomerate Cima Group and a developer and manufacturer of healthcare solutions, Eocene Systems, announced Thursday that they completed the creation of a joint venture, Cima Care Solutions.

“The deal unites the two organizations’ unique set of capabilities to effectively deliver an active in-home patient care and monitoring solution for the next generation of telemedicine,” a provided statement reads.

The announcement comes on the heels of Cima Group’s recent acquisition of Orlando-based Knetik and its robust digital revenue optimization platform for the monetization of any digital transaction along with a deeper and broader view into customer engagement and comprehensive data reporting and analytics.

The Repeal of the Medical Device Tax: The Good, the Bad….. and is There an Ugly?

This past week, Washington was abuzz with what will happen if the ACA is repealed.  For medical device manufacturers, the question about the medical device tax repeal is top of mind.  This tax, a 2.3% for innovation on new products, was enacted to raise funds for the ACA.  It was so unpopular and stifled innovation so it was suspended for 2016 and 2017.  The battle has begun to see what will happen in 2018.

The tough thing for the industry to swallow was that medical device manufacturers were taxed pre-revenue, making it difficult for the entrepreneur or startup to get their business off the ground.  That lead to the suspension.

A Healthy Choice for Moms at SXSW 2017

A Healthy Choice for Moms at SXSW 2017Moms-in-Film, an organization founded to “energize the careers of mothers” in film and television by providing community, funding and advocacy, is poised to “alleviate the childcare issue for filmmaker-parents on the ground at SXSW 2017.”

According to a statement emailed to MMW on Friday, the Bi-coastal organization is partnering with Collab&Play, LA’s first coworking space with on-site childcare, to provide professional, free childcare using the funds received from a SXSW community grant.

This pilot of the Wee Wagon, a mobile childcare unit which will provide childcare to the film community on set as well as at festivals, will launch the service which will be available from Moms-in-Film later this year. In addition to providing free childcare in the Wee Wagon from March 13 to 17, Moms-in-Film is presenting a panel on Parenthood and Filmmaking, to address the challenges facing parents of both sexes working in various fields within film.
