Big Payday Promised to NYC Innovators at Health 2.0

The New York City Economic Development Corp. is promising to monetize the end result for innovators in health and technology in the Big Apple.

Digital health innovators are being encouraged to enter a new contest called Innovate Health Tech NYC, which kicked off on Monday.

Innovate Health Tech NYC invites software and hardware developers and other innovators living or working in New York City to create commercially viable technologies that solve urgent health care problems. Individuals, teams, and companies with 10 or fewer employees can compete, and will be required to demonstrate a functioning prototype of a pre-commercial technology in their submission.

We’re told that technologies may include healthcare analytics tools, clinical workflow management tools, mobile health applications, and even wireless health monitoring devices.

$25,000 is the Grand Prize and will go to the “Best Innovation.” $15,000 will be paid to the Second Prize winner, while $10,000 goes to the bronze winner.

After the submission period ends (May 2, 2013), a panel of judges will review all eligible submissions and select nine finalists. The public will vote for one additional finalist to determine their favorite.
