First Look: HookLogic Partners with Instacart

Healthcare Beat Medicom Health Interactive and Vitalz Agree to Strategic Solutions PartnershipHookLogic, a performance marketing platform for brands, confirmed to MHW on Tuesday that brands will now be able to drive featured placement and increase sales on leading consumer packaged goods (CPG) retailers, Instacart, FreshDirect and Drugstore.com.

The new sites join the ranks of leading CPG retailers already partnered with HookLogic, including Walmart, Tesco, Target, Asda, Peapod and Costco.

“We are quickly aggregating the digital aisle for CPG brands, providing closed-loop performance marketing opportunities at massive scale,” said Jonathan Opdyke, CEO of HookLogic. “U.S. CPG sales are moving online at a faster pace than ever before and we’re excited to partner with many of the innovative retailers helping to drive that trend.”

Gurman Becomes 171st President of AMA

AMAEarlier this month, Andrew W. Gurman, M.D., an orthopedic hand surgeon from Hollidaysburg, Penn., was sworn in as the 171th president of the American Medical Association (AMA).

In leading the organization, we’re told that Dr. Gurman will focus his tenure on advancing the AMA’s three strategic focus areas, to: “improve health outcomes for Americans living with pre-diabetes and hypertension; accelerate change in medical education and prepare students for today’s health care system; and enhance physician satisfaction and practice sustainability.”

MEDNAX Acquires Anesthesiology Practice

MEDNAXOn Monday, the folks at MEDNAX confirmed to mHealthWatch the acquisition of Westchester Anesthesiologists, PC, a private physician group practice based in White Plains, N.Y.

The practice was acquired by one of the company’s affiliated professional contractors in New York.

Westchester Anesthesiologists provides anesthesia care across a wide spectrum of subspecialty areas in Westchester County.

The PreOp Surgery Centers and The PostCare Discharge Series are part of a library of more than 80 videos produced by MedSelfEd in collaboration with doctors from Boston Teaching Hospitals.

ICD-10 implementation and planning has been a like a dust storm looming on the horizon: swirling, unpredictable, and a somewhat painful experience. Because of its erratic nature, for the most part, we have all been focused on the challenges of meeting the deadline.  We’ve been preparing, planning, allocating resources, testing, tweaking, and testing again.  But what most of us haven’t been planning for are the days and weeks post October 1.

A few weeks into October, organizations will begin to see the positive and negative impact of the new coding practices and outcomes on their revenue cycle.  With a large-scale transition like ICD-10, and the massive volumes of cases now being coded using the new system, there will be gaps—no matter how well prepared your organization is, we all must carefully examine our plans and processes.

Health Care Benefits Cost Increases to 'Hold Steady' in 2016The National Business Group on Health said recently that health care benefit cost increases at large employers are expected to hold steady through next year.

The reason? Changes employers are making to their benefit programs.

“At the same time,” an announcement from the organization explains, “nearly half of large employers say if they don’t take additional measures to control costs, at least one of their health plans will reach the threshold that triggers the ‘Cadillac’ excise tax under the Affordable Care Act in 2018.”
