According to an announcement shared with mHealthWatch late last week, Cerner, Epic and MEDITECH were the only EMR solutions that grew their market share in the past year.
This reality was brought to our attention in the latest KLAS report – “Clinical Market Share 2014: Competition Mounts as Markets Collide”
One of the findings of the report is that Epic and Cerner took the majority of wins in both the large- and small-facility segments.
“EMR vendors that cater to smaller facilities are feeling the pinch and saw a decrease in wins across the board,” explains report author Colin Buckley. “It is simply getting increasingly difficult for small-facility vendors to compete with their larger-facility counterparts.”
To facilitate the study, KLAS interviewed large and small hospitals across the country about their EMR solutions.
The products reviewed included EMRs from Allscripts, Cerner, CPSI, Epic, Healthland, McKesson, MEDHOST (HMS), MEDITECH and Siemens.
The author says detailed information on each vendor’s performance is available on the report, more information about which can be accessed here.
