CVS Caremark launches their App for Android

CVS Caremark, the largest Pharmacy Health Care Provider in the US, announced the release of their new Android application for medication management.

The new application is available with Android 2.1 OS phones and above, along with the iPhone application that has been available since July of 2010. This application is free in the Android Market, and further broadens their members’ mobile access to securely manage their prescriptions online.

Additionally, any Android user can download the App and use the Drug Information Database to research prescription information, including: dosage information, side effects and warnings, generic alternatives and even images of the medication.

For CVS Caremark PBM members specifically, members can use the App to register or login securely to their accounts. Functions available to members include: Refill a prescription, check prescription status, view prescription history, request new prescriptions, check the coverage and costs of drugs, and locate a network pharmacy.

“At CVS Caremark we continue to find ways to engage and communicate with our members using new technologies to manage their prescriptions and keep them connected,” said Tim Kurth, VP eBusiness, CVS Caremark.

No information has been provided if this will extend to Android tablets or iPads.
