Inmarsat Sponsors Lifesaving Mobile Healthcare For Earthquake Survivors In Nepal

Inmarsat Sponsors Lifesaving Mobile Healthcare For Earthquake Survivors In NepalThe devastating earthquake in Nepal may have occurred months ago, but the aftermath leaves many locals in need of ongoing medical attention. In fact, over 2.8 million people were impacted by the earthquake. While not all require medical attention, it is no secret that medical attention is harder to come by due to the devastation.

Thanks to sponsorship provided by Inmarsat, Telecoms Sans Frontieres (TSF) remains in Nepal providing life-saving mHealth solutions. TSF works in collaboration with Medecins du Monde (MdM), who provides a mobile data system that works well with Inmarsat’s connectivity.

As documented in a new SpaceRef report, mobile medics fist attend training with TSF’s mHealth experts in Kathmandu and Sukute, then head out to 14 of the towns and villages that were hit the hardest by the earthquake. Their efforts provide between 250 to 500 medical consultations per day.

Data gathered will also be analyzed to determine priority areas, concentration of disease, and the potential for outbreaks.
