MedDiary Launches Custom Mobile Health App to Monitor Patients

MedDiary Launches Custom Mobile Health App to Monitor PatientsMedDiary Inc., a mobile health (mHealth) software company, has announced the launch of its mobile health software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform consisting of a cloud-based portal for healthcare providers and a mobile app for patients.

The integrated platform makes it possible for healthcare providers to create custom mobile health apps for their patients and to subsequently remotely monitor them.

According to a statement provided to mHealthWatch, patients pay a $35 monthly in-app subscription fee for this “concierge level” service. MedDiary then compensates providers with a $15 monthly services fee for coordinating the patient’s care.

“MedDiary transforms mobile health into a service that healthcare providers can offer to their patients,” said MedDiary CEO Mark Repko. “Mobile health is quickly becoming an integral part of a patient’s treatment regimen. What’s been missing up until this point is a way for providers to truly prescribe a mobile health app to their patients including app configuration delivery and ongoing oversight. MedDiary offers a unique solution to this complex problem.”

The company says “MedDiary is ideally suited for applications in which patients need to intensely manage their health for a short period of time while under the close supervision of a healthcare provider.”

Applications include hospital discharge instructions, management of a newly diagnosed chronic disease, follow-up for a complex medication regimen for cancer treatment, dietary guidelines, as directed by a bariatrician or registered dietitian, and monitoring of a care plan recommended by a functional medicine practitioner or health coach.

The MedDiary platform currently offers seven different health management modules for use in creating the custom MedDiary mobile health app. Providers can select any combination of modules and then further refine the specifications within each one to meet the individual needs of each patient. All of the specifications configured by the provider are automatically reflected in the patient’s version of the MedDiary app.

MedDiary Inc. is a mobile health software company based in Indianapolis. Founder Mark Repko started the company after he was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. His goal was to create an app that would allow him and others to manage chronic digestive diseases.

The company has grown. Now MedDiary provides a way for healthcare providers and their patients to manage a wide variety of health conditions including asthma, cardiomyopathy, celiac disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), congestive heart failure (CHF), Crohn’s disease, diabetes type 1, diabetes type 2, hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and ulcerative colitis.
