American Telemedicine Association Seeking Nominations for the Advancement of TelemedicineAhead of the weekend, The American Telemedicine Association (ATA) announced that it is currently seeking nominations for the association’s annual President’s Awards for the Advancement of Telemedicine.

“These awards recognize individuals and organizations that have made substantial contributions to the advancement of healthcare delivery through telecommunications technology,” said Jonathan Linkous, CEO of the American Telemedicine Association.

“We expect that this year’s finalists and winners will again prove inspiration to everyone in the telemedicine field, especially ATA 2016 attendees, who will be able to meet the innovators and personally interact with them,” Linkous tells us.

ATA Touts Support for New Accountable Care Organization Model


ATA Launches Online Telemental Health CourseIn a media announcement shared with MHW on Monday, The American Telemedicine Association (ATA) announced its support and recognition of the launch of the new Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) new accountable care organization (ACO) model.

The new model, called the Next Generation ACO Model (NGACO Model), is comprised of twenty-one ACOs with significant experience coordinating care for populations of patients through initiatives, including, but not limited to, the Medicare Shared Savings Program and the Pioneer ACO Model.

“Today is an important day for Medicare beneficiaries getting access to value-based telehealth care,” said Gary Capistrant, Chief Policy Officer of ATA. “We think all Medicare ACOs should be able to use telehealth to provide the Medicare range of coverage, and we hope that Congress and CMS will explore allowing more use of innovation to serve better Medicare beneficiaries.”

The Doctor Will See You Now ATA Accredits Avera Health for Online Patient ConsultationsOn Wednesday, The American Telemedicine Association awarded Accreditation for Online Patient Consultations to Avera Health.

According to the ATA, Avera Health is a regional partnership of health professionals who share support services to maintain care at 300 locations.

In its eleven months of operation, over 350 organizations have registered for the ATA program.

NLC and APRN Compact Score Support of the American Telemedicine Association


NLC and APRN Compact Score Support of the American Telemedicine AssociationOn Tuesday, mHealthWatch learned that the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), www.ncsbn.org, enhanced NLC and APRN Compact have received letters of support from the American Telemedicine Association and National Patient Safety Foundation.

According to a news release to the media, these organizations join a list of more than 25 others that recognize that nursing care in the 21st century “must be dynamic and fluid across state boundaries and that these compacts offer the best mechanism by which to achieve this goal.”

Allowing nurses to have mobility across state borders, the enhanced NLC and the APRN Compact increase access to care while maintaining public protection.

American Telemedicine Association Accredits Upstate Concierge MedicineAhead of the weekend The American Telemedicine Association (ATA) awarded its fifth Accreditation for Online Patient Consultations to Upstate Concierge Medicine, a New York State practice “providing a blend of concierge and telemedicine services. In its nine months of operation, over 350 organizations have registered for the ATA program.”

“The 1.25 million patients expected to receive online consultations this year need to know what services are following the proper guidelines and standards of care,” said Jonathan Linkous, CEO of ATA. “The continual entrance of new players to the game means determining what new services are clinically appropriate for telemedicine.”
