Northwell Health, Avizia Confirm New Telehealth Partnership


New Partnership Between Logicalis Healthcare Solutions And Ascendian Healthcare ConsultingOn Wednesday, mHealthWatch was briefed by the team at Avizia, a leading end-to-end telehealth solution provider, on their new strategic channel partnership with Northwell Health, New York state’s largest health care provider and private employer.

The company also confirmed a direct-equity investment from Northwell Ventures, the health system’s corporate venture arm.

“Within this enterprise-technology-focused partnership, the companies will work to expand the depth and reach of Northwell’s telehealth services, helping to effectively and efficiently provide patients with the right care at the right time and place,” a provided statement reads.

Avizia Scores $6 Million in Investments from Healthcare Giants


Money, Money, Money Guess What Would Inspire More Family Physicians to Use TelehealthOn Monday, MHW learned that Avizia, a leading end to end telehealth solution provider, has completed its Series A financing totaling $17 million.

The company raised an additional $6 million to supplement the initial $11 million, which was announced in July.

HealthQuest Capital led the additional round which included investment from strategic partner NewYork-Presbyterian.

New Report Reminds That Obstacles for Telehealth Persist


New Report Reminds That Obstacles for Telehealth PersistAvizia, a telehealth solution provider, and Modern Healthcare Custom Media, the research division of Modern Healthcare, recently shared with mHealthWatch the findings from their national telehealth survey.

The report, “Closing the Telehealth Gap,” surveyed more than 280 healthcare leaders from U.S. hospitals, physician groups, ambulatory centers and other healthcare groups, and exposed a major disconnect between how healthcare providers currently use telehealth versus how they want to use the technology.

According to the findings, the most common service lines using telehealth today include stroke (44 percent), behavioral health (39 percent), staff education and training (28 percent), and primary care (22 percent). However, when executives look to the future, patient education and train­ing lead the wish list (34 percent), closely followed by remote patient home monitoring (30 percent) and primary care (27 percent).

Funding Allows Telemedicine Firm to Grow and Chase GoalsReston, Washington-based telemedicine firm Avizia Inc. split from Cisco Systems Inc. in order to grow its business and its high-tech system that helps spread expertise of medical specialists more broadly, said Avizia CEO Mike Baird, according to Biz Journals.

Avizia said they “had closed an equity financing round led by D.C.-based NextGen Angels, along with Blu Venture Investors and Middleland Capital.” Avazia revealed its CA300 telemedicine system at the American Telemedicine Association conference in Baltimore earlier this year.

Baird said the new funding will be used to expand its sales team. Their system is currently in more than 100 hospitals around the country and in 20 different countries.
