Innovative Healthcare Technologies to Make a Splash at HX360With HIMSS15 at McCormick Place in Chicago now just three weeks away, we’re learning more about what’s on tap for the inaugural HX360 event.

HX360 will focus on advancing the use of health technology innovations that improve clinical workflow, care coordination and patient experience, and foster collaborations to improve development and adoption of novel health technologies, as well as work on the structures and processes within delivery systems that will make their use successful, according to a statement emailed to mHealthWatch today.

HX360 is looking beyond electronic health records, to next-generation technologies, such as mobile health, wearables, sensors and remote monitoring devices and other digital tools that are changing care delivery for both patients and providers. HX360’s interactive sessions, networking events and vibrant Innovation Pavilion will set the stage for collaboration between investors, healthcare providers and entrepreneurs.

Winning Move in the Windy City Chicago's MedEx Rolls Out First Google Glass Equipped Ambulances in U.S.Google Glass may soon get a second life as a helping hand in the healthcare sector.

Though Google Glass has flopped (at the moment) as a consumer product, it will has value in many ways.

That’s the view of MedEx, a Chicagoland provider of ambulance and telemedicine services. It is the first ambulance company in the country to use Google Glass to visually connect paramedics in the field.

MedEx has rolled out 10 ambulances outfitted with Google Glass capability — a feature that lets paramedics transmit live audio and video to hospitals.

HX360 Innovation Challenge Launches At HIMSS 15Last week, the inaugural HX360 event announced the addition of what is being billed as the HX360 Innovation Challenge.

The challenge will take place at the 2015 HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition.

According to details shared with mHealthWatch, the Innovation Challenge will identify, highlight and recognize digital health, healthcare IT and IT-enabled healthcare services companies that are making the most significant contributions to improving patient experience relative to hospitals and health systems.

Chicago Hospitals Rushing to Health Information Exchange


Chicago Hospitals Rushing to Health Information ExchangeThe Chicago Tribune reported Monday that dozens of Chicago-area hospitals are “banding together” to share secure patient data through an emerging health information exchange.

In all, 34 regional hospitals are participating as of today. Health care officials cited in the report indicate that the effort is meant to help hospitals “better care for patients and reduce unnecessary and expensive tests.”

MetroChicago HIE, scheduled to launch early next year, is an online portal that will allow for patient information, such as lab tests, imaging, health conditions, medicines and treatment, to be shared in real time among hospitals, doctors and eventually patients themselves.
