Thousands Play New Game That Seeks to Save Lives by Educating People About Liver DiseasePress Release: In an effort to reduce the high death rate from liver disease among the local Hispanic population, The El Paso Times, The Hospitals of Providence and gamification software company OfferCraft have partnered to create an interactive game to educate people about how to prevent the illness.

The game, which comes in English and Spanish versions, is a trivia quiz that features short embedded educational videos, links to a podcast, and infographics on liver disease and its prevention. It has already been played more than 3,000 times on mobile phones, computers and tablets.

“While this game deals with liver disease, in the future we aim to release new games to provide important information about many other diseases,” said Aron Ezra, CEO of OfferCraft. “Making education about a tough subject less intimidating and more memorable can help improve health and save lives.”

Cigna Bringing Health Games to Medical Professionals and PatientsAs part of the company’s ongoing efforts to support medical professionals and patients with convenient and comforting mobile resources, on Monday the team at Cigna confirmed that HopeLab’s free cancer-fighting Re-Mission 2 online games and the Re-Mission 2: Nanobot’s Revenge mobile app will be demonstrated this week at the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON) 37th Annual Conference and Exhibit.

The event is scheduled to take place September 19-21, 2013 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Designed to help young cancer patients stick to their treatments, the games are free to play online and free to download for Android and iOS mobile devices.

In a laudable effort to “support and empower” young cancer patients, global health service company Cigna is teaming up with the Childhood Leukemia Foundation (CLF) to provide free iPads preloaded with HopeLab’s cancer-fighting game app Re-Mission 2: Nanobot’s Revenge to patients through CLF’s Keeping Kids Connected program.

Keeping Kids Connected allows young cancer patients to stay in touch with family, friends and school while actively receiving treatment.
