Garmin Shows Off First Touchscreen Hybrid Smartwatch


On Thursday, Garmin International, Inc. announced the vívomove HR, a hybrid smartwatch with activity tracking, Elevate wrist-based heart rate, smart notifications and a touchscreen display.

“Precision hands show the time and dynamically move out of the way for easy viewing of messages, heart rate and more,” the company tells us. “A master of subtlety, the smart display only appears when the user turns their wrist. Style-obsessed, rejoice: The vívomove HR combines the latest and greatest Garmin connectivity, fitness and wellness monitoring features with an elegant, classic design.”

We’re told that the vívomove HR is one of the many new wearables from Garmin being launched in conjunction with IFA in Berlin, Germany, September 1-6.

To The Forefront of Wearables: Garmin Announces Forerunner 935

On Wednesday, Garmin International Inc. officially introduced the much anticipated Forerunner 935.

“The new flagship multisport device from Garmin will bring the latest generation of physiological analytic capabilities from Firstbeat Technologies Ltd. to the Forerunner series for the first time,” reads a statement emailed to mHealthWatch.

We’re told that the three new Firstbeat training features – Anaerobic Training Effect, Training Load, and Training Status – debuted earlier this year in the Garmin Fenix 5 series, which was named as a CES 2017 Innovation Award Honoree in the wearable technologies category.

Garmin Launches New Wearable and Cycling Apps

The formal announcement came at the start of CES 2017 this week in Las Vegas.

So what’s new exactly?

Connect IQ, an open platform for third-party developers to create content for Garmin wearables, bike computers and outdoor handhelds, lets users customize their Garmin device to reflect their unique personalities and needs.
