CVS Buys Omnicare for 12.7 BillionCVS, one of the largest pharmacy companies in the industry, has just purchased Omnicare, the largest provider of medications to the elderly in nursing homes and other elder-care facilities.

If you’re not familiar, Omnicare specializes in treating Type 2 Diabetes and Pneumonia among other common geriatric health issues.

By purchasing Omnicare, it allows CVS to bridge into a new area of medical care, enabling them to surpass competing powerhouse, Walgreen’s. Not only will CVS be distributing their usual medications, they will also be able to help people manage their pharmacy insurance benefits, as well as provide help for the elderly.
