Ford Exploring Ways To Support Wearable Technology In Their CarsThere are many ways in which wearable technology can improve one’s health and wellness. This includes monitoring of everything from blood glucose levels, blood oxygen levels, and vital signs. With the growing popularity of wearable technology, and the direct connection between health and safe driving, Ford is now exploring ways to accommodate Internet connected devices within their vehicles.

According to the Wall Street Journal, while Ford is not looking to enter the healthcare industry, they are looking to support the daily lives of their drivers. Think of this along the same lines as having a built-in iPod jack or built-in DVD player.

Actionable Health Data is the Business Model Behind ModusLate last week, a new healthcare technology company turned up on our radar.

The company in question – modus health – was launched, we’re told, to “provide accurate, actionable physical activity data and analytics that will improve care efficiency and enhance clinical outcomes in patients with slow and irregular gait.”

Those behind the endeavor say modus “measures what matters” using its wearable StepWatch Activity Sensor coupled with proprietary software and analytics.

An Educational Divide With Technology And The Nursing World


An Educational Divide With Technology And The Nursing WorldTechnology, as we’ve seen, has the potential to play a vitally important role in the nursing industry. Technology allows nurses to communicate with doctors even when they are off-site, and do things such as send images or messages of concern directly to a doctor while they are in other areas of a medical facility. Yet there is still a divide when it comes to telehealth training among nurses.

In fact, this divide is twofold. Older nurses who did not grow up in the tech savvy world we live in today need telehealth training, and time to transition to incorporating technology into their daily operations. The second divide is with in nursing training. While younger nursing students are more comfortable with technology as a whole, it is not always well integrated into their training. This is either because it has not been thoroughly absorbed into their education program, or because the nurses training them have not yet integrated technology into their daily practices.

iHealth Launches Wireless Smart-Gluco Monitoring SystemThis week, iHealth Lab Inc. launched its FDA-approved Wireless Smart Gluco-Monitoring System.

As we understand it, the new iHealth device is the market’s first portable Bluetooth-enabled blood glucose monitor.

According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), which observes American Diabetes Month in November, there are 26 million diabetics in the U.S. today. Of those over 20 years of age, two-thirds have hypertension or report taking medication to lower blood pressure.
