MHW learned today that Traffk — a Los Angeles art district-based insurance technology company — is acquiring Portland, Ore.-based Capsci Health.
If you’re not familiar, we’re told that Capsci Health’s HIPAA compliant, mobile technology platform personalizes health plan members’ benefits, allowing them direct access to their plan’s benefits, ID cards, preferred providers and telemedicine.
The addition of Capsci Health’s mobile capabilities enables underwriting and risk management to occur at the individual health plan member level by combining Traffk’s massive data analytics and insurance underwriting technology with individual member level insights and communications.

On Wednesday, mPulse Mobile — a mobile experience-management company focused on consumer health and wellness — confirmed in a statement to the media that it recently wrapped up a $1.7 million investment round (pre-series A) lead by OCA Ventures.
According to a statement from the innovative company, this funding “will enable mPulse to continue its organic growth and expand the sales and client support teams to further support its leadership in delivering mobile population health and member engagement solutions to health and wellness companies.”

Spok says that University Health System (UHS), a nationally recognized academic medical center and network of outpatient healthcare centers in San Antonio, Texas, is now working with them on a highly important matter.
UHS turned to Spok, selecting its enterprise suite of communication solutions to improve communications.
The Spok on-call scheduling, secure texting, critical test results management, and hospital call center solutions will allow the rapidly growing organization to increase staff efficiency and enhance secure communications. As part of the rollout, UHS plans to provide the Spok Mobile secure texting app to 1,600 physicians and residents.

A new mHealth app called Wellzilla is now available to both professional and family caregivers. The app is designed as both a communication tool, as well as a platform through which caregivers can purchase all of the over-the-counter medical supplies they require.
When speaking of medical supplies required for hygiene and other Activities of Daily Living, supplies are more affordable in Wellzilla because the app cuts out the middle man. The app currently has over 40,000 medical supplies, some of which are as much as 80% cheaper than paying the full retail price.

This morning, Apple will host its first media event of 2015 to give Apple Watch one final push before its imminent launch.
In fact, this morning’s event may be almost exclusively about the eagerly anticipated wearable.
“Apple will likely do one last demo and give us all the pricing tiers and release date information we’ve been wanting for in the last 5 or 6 months we’ve known about the product,” tech blogger Kendall Briar tells our sister site MMW.
