Nebraska Medicine Physicians Report Technological Advantage


Nuance Moving Ahead with Art of Medicine InitiativeNuance Communications recently announced that Nebraska Medicine, after a head-to-head competitive process, chose and implemented Nuance Dragon Medical One as the cloud-based clinical speech recognition platform for its initiative to “get physicians more engaged and satisfied with documentation processes in the electronic health record (EHR) system.”

The results, we’re told, have been staggeringly positive.

According to a provided release, combining Epic’s tools for structured information with Nuance technology allows Nebraska Medicine’s physicians to use their voice to tell the patient’s complete patient story.

The offering is touted as being a powerful, fast and highly accurate engine to transcribe audio and unlock valuable insights for marketing and sales teams.

Part of the DialogTech platform, Conversation Insight 2.0 records and transcribes marketing driven calls, making it easy for marketers to run a detailed analysis of phone conversations driven from any marketing source to any call centers, remote agents, business location or franchisee.

CHRISTUS Health Taps Nuance for Enterprise-Wide Speech Recognition Deployment


NuanceMHW learned Thursday that Nuance Communications, Inc. has been selected by CHRISTUS Health, one of the 10 largest Catholic not-for-profit health systems in the U.S., for an enterprise-wide physician documentation improvement initiative.

The impetus, we’re told, is to improve how physicians work with inpatient and ambulatory EHRs with the additional benefit of improving financial performance.

This broad implementation replaces multiple competitive systems, adding Nuance’s full suite of clinical documentation solutions including Nuance’s back-end medical transcription, as well as Nuance PowerScribe® 360, and Nuance Dragon® Medical for real-time speech-enabled physician documentation.

Nuance Shows Off Dragon Medical One Platform


High Praise Befalls Nuance in New 2015 Medical Image Sharing Report for PowerShare NetworkOn Wednesday, Nuance Communications formally announced Dragon Medical One.

According to a statement shared with MHW, the offering is a universal and secure cloud-based platform that provides unified voice-driven clinical documentation for physicians, whether they are dictating into electronic health records (EHR) or a growing list of mobile productivity apps.

Nuance says that for the first time, this personalized and consistent experience extends beyond the current EHR capabilities to include apps physicians’ use every day including secure communication and messaging apps, such as those from Care Thread, Doc Halo, and Imprivata.

The transition to value-based care is putting hospitals’ performance to the test. Healthcare leaders must ensure that their organizations can maintain reimbursement levels, while effectively treating patients and gathering accurate data to prove value and assess performance. Most people don’t know where to start to mitigate the risks.

In a recent HealthLeaders survey, 38% of respondents said the greatest risk hospitals face in transitioning to Value-Based Payment (VBP) models is the payment gap from Fee-for-Service (FFS).  I spend a significant amount of time talking to leaders about how to navigate this transition — from focusing on services and volume that drive revenue to making value-based changes that will produce partial financial benefits today, but will be increasingly important to survival of providers and health systems in 2016 and 2017.

Look Who Ranked No. 1 for Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Solutions AgainOn Monday, Nuance Communications announced for the second consecutive year it has been named the “leading vendor for clinical documentation improvement (CDI) solutions” in the 2015 Black Book Clinical Documentation Improvement Solutions survey.

The survey is based on the responses of 1,129 hospital CFOs financial and coding leaders.

In a separate Black Book report, Nuance also ranked the top vendor for End-to-End Coding, Speech Recognition, and Medical Records Solutions.
