InfoComm 2017: Samsung Honored for Visual Display Innovation

MHW has learned that Samsung Electronics America, Inc. was the recipient of three industry awards distributed during the annual InfoComm tradeshow last week at the Orange County Convention Center.

The company was honored for its innovation and leadership in visual display, earning recognition from programs sponsored by NewBay Media and rAVe Publications.

MHW learned Tuesday that Samsung and alliance partner Hipaax, a developer of TaskWatch — a wearable task management platform — are accelerating use of wearables in the workplace with an integrated smartwatch solution for businesses featuring new capabilities that improve efficiency, increase productivity and enhance customer satisfaction.

Designed to improve workforce management for hospitality, retail and transportation markets, the solution takes capabilities typically associated with smartphones, and brings them to the wearable world—enabling businesses to more easily deploy and manage wearables for enterprise use.

Samsung and Nestlé Announce Collaboration on Digital Health and NutritionSamsung Strategy and Innovation Center and Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences have announced what they call a collaborative effort to harness the power of IoT technology and nutrition science to provide new insights into healthy living.

According to a joint media announcement, this collaboration “aims to combine IoT, scientifically validated bio sensors, advanced multi-modal technology, and comprehensive nutritional approach to provide people with entirely new awareness into health and wellness.”

In addition, the collaboration aims to empower individuals to better manage their own health and wellbeing by providing relevant and contextual recommendations around nutrition, lifestyle, and fitness, to help individuals live healthier and better lives.

Samsung Touts Industry’s First Smart Bio-ProcessorOn Tuesday, Samsung Electronics announced that it is addressing the growing trend of quantified health with an “all-in-one advanced system logic chip for the health-oriented wearables market,” the Bio-Processor.

The Samsung Bio-Processor, now in mass production we’re told, is specifically designed to allow “accelerated development” of innovative wearable products for consumers who are increasingly monitoring their health and fitness on a daily basis.

“With improvements in smart, fitness devices and an increase in consumer health consciousness, more and more people are looking for ways to monitor various personal bio-data, or fitness data, to constantly manage their health,” says Ben K. Hur, Vice President of marketing, System LSI business at Samsung Electronics.

WellDoc, Samsung and Ontario Telemedicine Network Focusing on Canadian Diabetics

WellDoc, Samsung and Ontario Telemedicine Network Focusing on Canadian DiabeticsRecently, the team at digital health technology company WellDoc announced the launch of an innovative demonstration program with Samsung Electronics in Ontario, Canada through the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN).

According to a statement to the media from WellDoc, the goal of the program is to demonstrate the clinical and economic value of integrating a clinically proven self-management tool and lifestyle tracking into the type 2 diabetes treatment standard of care.

The program will include a minimum of 300 people living with type 2 diabetes who will receive a prescription of BlueStar-S from their healthcare provider.

Samsung and Mybitat Working to Enhanced Quality of Life for SeniorsOn Wednesday, mHealthWatch was briefed by the folks at Samsung Electronics and Mybitat (an AGT Group company) about their plan for joint development of an “innovative smart home solution aimed at helping the elderly remain in their own homes longer and enhancing individual quality of life.”

While Samsung certainly needs no introduction, if you’re not yet familiar with Mybitat you may soon be. The company is a self-described startup focused on “Internet of Things” (IoT) technologies.

Together, the freshly formed partners will jointly develop technology that combines advanced sensors, cloud-based software and behavior analytics to monitor an individual’s daily routine and wellness.
