Wright Media has developed multiple apps geared toward the trucking industry. The latest app, however, is a telemedicine program called the Truckers MedCallAssist.

Since truckers spend the majority of their time on the road, and are often out of town and out of state, far away from familiar family physicians. As a result, receiving medical care while on the road proves to be quite the challenge.

It takes too much time to try to track down a local physician (especially in remote areas) and is too expensive (and once again too time consuming) to go to a local ER for general healthcare concerns.

With the Truckers MedCallAssist, truckers now have access to 24 hour remote healthcare from board certified physicians. The physicians can be accessed for emergency and non-emergency calls alike and no appointment is necessary. Physicians who participate in this innovative telemedicine program are able to prescribe medications remotely, and provide medical advice.

The goal of the app is not to eliminate in-person doctor appointments altogether, but to addresses truckers’ needs because their constant travel makes in-person appointments far more challenging than for most.

The telemedicine program, which is HSA and FSA approved, and HIPAA-compliant, even helps to alleviate deductibles and co-pays.
