In fact, there’s now an app to help ensure the opposite effect.

Fit Brains, a mobile first brain training company behind the highly successful Fit Brains Trainer app, has just launched its first app for children, Fit Brains: Sparky’s Adventures.

Following the success of the Fit Brains Trainer app that reached #1 in the iTunes education channel with more than 3.5 million downloads in the first 8 months and is currently the highest rated trainer in the App Store, the company has expanded to the children’s cognitive training genre.

The Fit Brains: Sparky’s Adventures app for iPhone and iPad provides more than 200 training sessions developed for toddlers and young children, customized by level, for an optimal entertaining and brain strengthening experience.

According to details shared this week in a press release, the trainer for kids provides a comprehensive approach to stimulating the five key areas of the brain: memory, concentration, visual, speed, and problem solving.

Kids are led through the educational games by Sparky the firefly, a whimsical character who appears throughout. The app is also built with a parents panel so caregivers can see how the child is performing and progressing, and how he is scoring compared to other children of the same age.

“Cognitive development begins at birth, so one is never too young to begin challenging and strengthening the brain,” says neuroscientist Dr. Paul Nussbaum. “We created the Fit Brains app for kids as a tool for youngsters while they are at home or on the go to play and have fun, while also developing critical skills they will use throughout their lives.”
