HealthTap Tapping into Telemedicine

HealthTap Tapping into Telemedicine telemedicine mHealth news mHealth HealthTap HealthTap has its sights set on telemedicine.

The Palo Alto, California-based startup known for its online medical Q&A platform, now wants to connect subscribers with doctors.

“Users will still be able to access that product for free, but those willing to shell out $99 a month (plus $10 for every additional family member) will be able engage in actual medical consultations through HealthTap Prime,” says James Temple of Re/Code.

As we understand it, the mobile and desktop-based subscription service, will serve up continuous 24/7 access to licensed medical doctors through video, audio, or chat.

“We’re not just in the business of scheduling appointments or finding information,” CEO Ron Gutman is quoted in the same report. “We’re in the business of making people feel good.”

But will the monthly price tag of $99 be too steep for most to pay? Chances are, we’ll find out soon enough.
