American Telemedicine Association Teams with Telemedicine Society of India


Telemedicine Service Rolls Out Across IndiamHealthWatch learned this week that the American Telemedicine Association has reached a cooperative agreement with the Telemedicine Society of India (TSI).

Together, we’re told, ATA and TSI hope to advance the practice of telemedicine to improve access, quality of care, and efficiency in the delivery of health services to citizens of both countries.

This landmark agreement between the two nations’ premiere telemedicine associations will allow them to work closely to improve relations between health and technology providers in India and the United States, starting with each organization’s members.

Telemedicine Service Rolls Out Across IndiaTelemedicine has become a major force within one of the world’s most populous nations.

Ebix, an international supplier of On-Demand software and E-commerce services, is the latest to deploy its telemedicine service Ask a Doctor across the length and breadth of the state of Rajasthan, India (through more than 33,000 kiosks).

We’re told that this deployment is part of the Govt. of Rajasthan’s ambitious eMitra initiative, an e-governance service implemented in all 33 districts of Rajasthan.

Mobile Program Launched to Aid Mumbai Mothers and Pregnant Women


Indian woman, pregnantARMMAN, a nonprofit organization, and Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA), have just formally rolled out mMitra, an mHealth program that delivers health information to pregnant women and new mothers living in Mumbai slums.

The platform, we’re told, is also being implemented in municipal hospitals in Mumbai.

Twice a week voice mails will be sent that correspond to the subscriber’s stage of pregnancy or developmental stage of their child. The program is building off of successful programs in Bangladesh and South Africa and there are plans to grow the program across urban India.

Spending Growth for India’s Healthcare ProvidersGarter, Inc., an information technology research and advisory company, reports that healthcare providers in India are expected to spend US $1.1 billion on IT products and services in 2014, a 5% increase from 2013.

The forecast includes spending by healthcare providers (hospitals, hospital systems, ambulatory service and physicians’ practices) on internal services, software, IT services, data center, devices, and telecom services.

IT Services includes consulting, implementation, IT outsourcing, and business process outsourcing, and will be the largest spending category, expecting to reach $300 million, up from $280 million last year.

Titans of Mobile, Medicine Unite to Expand Global TelemedicineA powerful new partnership has been forged for the sake of expanding the global reach of an ambitious telemedicine program.
